The Moldy Peach — A Rodent Reimagined
The Moldy Peach started with a simple idea: what if the Rat grew up a little?
I’ve always loved the ProCo Rat for its raw, aggressive grind and how it punches through a mix. But it always felt like it lived in one narrow zone: all or nothing, and not much in between. I wanted to take that DNA and stretch it into something more dynamic. Something that could crawl, snarl, and breathe depending on how you play.
The Moldy Peach is my attempt to modernize the Rat circuit without losing its gnarly charm. I reworked the gain structure to give you real range, from gritty, edge-of-breakup overdrive to full-on saturated fuzzed-out chaos. But unlike the original Rat, the Peach breaks up in a more natural way, closer to how a cranked tube amp responds. Harmonically rich, touch-sensitive, and alive under your fingers.
It’s still got that familiar snarl, but with smoother edges, more headroom, and a more amp-like feel. The low end doesn’t get flubby, the top doesn’t icepick, and the mids… well, they sit just right. You can stack it, push an already dirty amp, or run it into clean and let it do the heavy lifting. It plays nice with other pedals, but it doesn’t mind taking the spotlight either.
So why Moldy Peach? Because it’s sweet and nasty at the same time. A little rotten, a little ripe. And like anything truly good, it’s just the right kind of wrong.

This is the perfect fuzzy drive I need!!! Harsh, but it can retain the notes clarity (using the the mold knob) Perfect for those are looking for that shoegazy tone!
